Why are you running?
I have sat on the sidelines for most of my life and I thought it was time to give back to my community and do what I can to keep Bethel the beautiful, wonderful town that it is.
I love living in Bethel. I love the friendly community feel, I love our downtown, I love hiking in our greenspaces, I love the increasing diversity of people. I love the tolerance and acceptance I see here. I love the proximity to bigger cities. And I especially love all the people who I have gotten to know over the years. I am also passionate about the environment particularly climate change issues.
Biography
We have lived in Bethel for 36 years and have raised our three children here. Our children went to both St. Mary’s School and the Bethel Public School system. All three graduated from Bethel High School. My husband and I are long time members of St Mary’s Church.
I am a recently retired high school science teacher. I taught both earth science and environmental science at Newtown High School for 21 years and I just loved it.
I am a big nerd – I love Lord of the Rings and anything Star Wars, I love to read, play with my grandsons when they are around, hike, and I am just recently attempting to teach myself to play the ukulele. I am also very interested in science news, particularly relating to the environment and climate change
